Reading guide
- Darkover history period:
- Against the Terrans-The first Age (Recontact)
- What to read before and after:
-
As The Winds of Darkover involves Larry Montray, it might be a
good idea to read before Star of Danger (but in
fact, Larry is not a really important character in The Winds of
Darkover, therefore this is not mandatory). Another key character,
Desideria Storn, makes her first apparition in The Winds of Darkover,
together with the Sharra matrix. They will appear in The Heritage of Hastur and in Sharra's Exile.
- Notes:
-
An interesting novel which shows the power of Sharra, several
years before its true awakening in The Heritage of
Hastur.
"Official" presentation (from Daw Books)
One of the earliest of Darkover novels to reveal the awesome and terrifying
powers of the infamous Sharra Matrix--in a story of violence and vengeance as
the Storn family is held hostage in the frigid High Hellers.
