Reading guide
- Darkover history period:
- The Ages of Chaos
- What to read before and after:
-
Nothing! This novel is a standalone one.
- Notes:
-
This interesting novel can be read alone and gives a quite good
introduction to Darkover. But, in fact it might be a bad idea to start with
it, as the Ages of Chaos
are very popular among Darkover fans and unfortunately the only other novel
talking about this period is Hawkmistress!. The laran powers seem a little
bit limitated in the other novels
compared to what can happened in Stormqueen!.
I think reading Stormqueen! is very important in order to really
understand Darkover and especially its most recent period (i.e., the Second Age after the
recontact). You cannot really understand what means "laran power" if you
just read The Heritage of Hastur and Sharra's exile.
